Understand Your Body

Every individual is unique. Have you ever wondered what accounts for the basic differences between people?

Ayurveda is 5000 years old holistic body and mind medicine. Ayurveda is the oldest well-preserved treatment system in the world composed of unique system of nourishment, exercises, herb therapy, relaxation, meditation, cleaning of organism, aromatherapy, and colour therapy. From 1982, Ayurveda is approved by WHO as the effective medicine. According to Ayurveda, your individuality comes from a unique combination of three basic operating principles or doshas found in nature – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. To understand individuality is the foundation of Diagnosis and Treatment in Ayurveda.

Your personal constitution, which is your individual metabolic make-up, helps determine how your mind and body will instinctively react to different external stimulus. This inbuilt metabolic character is called Prakriti. Although Prakriti is difficult to alter, one can certainly learn to adjust it so as to reduce distortions, prevent imbalances and treat them when necessary. The main principle of Ayurveda is a life in compliance with personal constitution and with natural laws. Knowing your Ayurvedic constitution allows you to understand the workings of your mind and body better. Therefore, you have a greater control over the traits through planned and adequate changes incorporated into your lifestyle.

Body types can be single dosha or double dosha which are usually a combination of two doshas. Listed below are the principal physical and psychological characteristics of persons with predominantly single dosha constitutions.

VATA : Creativity Enthusiasm-Freedom-Generosity -Joy – Vitality

Their personality is impulsive and lively, but they are also prone to mood swings.

PITTA : Pitta is a force created by the dynamic interplay of water and fire. These forces represent transformation. Pitta is a force created by the dynamic interplay of water and fire. They earn money and are good at holding on to it.

Maintaining Tri-dosha Balance : Every person (and thing) contains all three doshas. However, the proportion varies according to the individual and usually one or two doshas predominate. Within each person the doshas are continually interacting with one another and with the doshas in all of nature. This explains why people can have not only much in common, but also an endless variety of individual differences in the way they behave and respond to their environment. Regardless of the percentages of vata, pitta, or kapha influences, your basic constitution represents your psychological and physical nature.
